Jazz Festival and Suns Ball Game

We just got home from the Ball game. We lost the game but it was a really close game. We started off the day by going to the Jazz festival and after that we headed over to the ball game to watch the Jacksonville Sons and this team from Alabama. I thought the high tech name badges for over 21 drinkers was a cool thing. I didn't drink, but I had to buy Rich a beer. We ate nachos and funnel cake while at the park. It was such a nice laid back and mellow day.

Clay County Fair

I took Mianna to the fair today. We didn't ride any rides, since she had gone on a few with her dad on Monday. I just wanted to go and pig out on junk food. We met up with Rich at a Mexican restaurant and after we that we came home to rest. I was so sleepy that I took a 2-hour nap and then I got up around 7 and we got to the fair by 8. I was supposed to meet up with Merranda and her family, but by the time we got to the fair and had called them, they had just got home. Today was her sons 5th B-day and so they took him to the fair. I called her and told her we were at the fair and that sorry we didn't get to meet up since I was dead sleepy. We ate funnel cake, dipping dots, corn and of course cotton candy. I took a few pics.

*GRANDMA'S CURES*
Did You Know That? Drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache
pain almost immediately -- without the unpleasant side effects caused by
traditional "pain relievers."
Did you know that Colgate toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns.
Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with
mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids
peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.
Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 Tablespoon of horseradish in 1
cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a
massage oil, for instant relief for aching muscles.
Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1
tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.
Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets
in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms.
Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly
-- even though the product was never been advertised for this use.
Honey remedy for skin blemishes... Cover the blemish with a dab of honey
and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin
sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight.
Listerine therapy for toenail fungus... Get rid of unsightly toenail
fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful
antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again.
Easy eyeglass protection... To prevent the screws in eyeglasses from
loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear nail polish to
the threads of the screws before tightening them.
Coca-Cola cure for rust... Forget those expensive rust removers. Just
saturate an abrasive sponge with Coca Cola and scrub the rust stain. The
phosphoric acid in the coke is what gets the job done.
Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer... If menacing bees, wasps,
hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the
insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground
instantly.
Smart splinter remover...just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the
splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter
sticks to the dried glue.
Hunt's tomato paste boil cure...cover the boil with Hunt's tomato paste as
a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the boil
to a head.
Balm for broken blisters...To disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few
drops of Listerine... a powerful antiseptic.
Heinz vinegar to heal bruises .. Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and
apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and
speeds up the healing process.
Kills fleas instantly. Dawn dish washing liquid does the trick. Add a few
drops to your dog's bath and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to
avoid skin irritations. Goodbye fleas.
Rainy day cure for dog odor... Next time your dog comes in from the rain,
simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet, instantly
making your dog smell springtime fresh.
Eliminate ear mites... All it takes is a few drops of Wesson corn oil in
your cat's ear. Massage it in, then clean with a cotton ball. Repeat daily
for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites, and
accelerates healing.
Quaker Oats for fast pain relief....It's not for breakfast anymore! Mix 2
cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave
for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for
soothing relief from arthritis pain.

Family left womans's remains on kitchen floor for 2 yesrs
Kathleen Wilson lay on the kitchen floor of her Fairfield, Calif., home for nearly two years after she died, her son and husband stepping around the remains as they prepared meals and went on with daily life.
Fairfield police discovered the corpse and arrested her son, Jack Wilson 48, Friday afternoon on suspicion of elder abuse. A concerned neighbor had reported not seeing the elderly woman in about a year. Jack Wilson told police his mother had fallen in the kitchen sometime in the mid 2003 and she had remained there ever since, said Fairfield police Sgt. Mike Johnstone.
"He says he left her in the kitchen and tried to feed her and take car of her for a couple weeks before she died," Johnstone said.
Jack Wilson had been cooperative with the investigation. Police said he understood his mother was dead, but why he never tried to get her medical attention or report her death remains unclear. "He didn't have an answer for that," Johnstone said. Jack's father, Harry Wilson, 81, was taken into the care of Adult Protective Services. He returned home from a walk as officers were arresting his son and asked where his wife was, Johnstone said.
A county social worker went to the home for welfare check Friday after a neighbor anonymously called Solano County's Adult Protective Services tip line. The social worker called police after detecting a strange odor emanating from the residence, Johnstone said.
Police say the home was in disarray, littered with trash and cat feces from family pets. Kathleen Wilson's clothed remains lay uncovered on the kitchen floor.
"Harry and Jack lived there, they were at the house, they continued to use the kitchen, " Johnstone said.

I found a cute table for my office. There is a furniture store there called

Kitchen Island

Yesterday I went shopping and bough Richie a kitchen island. He has always wanted an island and so we found the perfect one at the NEX. It's a little big for our kitchen, but I like that it has wheels so you can move it any place you like and it has a handy drawer for keeping knives and cutting boards and stuff like that. Tomorrow is my Pampered Chef party and Wendy will use this island to demonstrate her products. I will love this island for rolling out dough and chopping room for when we are all in the kitchen. I also picked up some new seat covers for the nook chairs.

Here are the trouble-makers: Margo (left) and
Sophie (right). They got into a purple boa and tore it to shreds. They
got caught in the act, and this is them trying to look innocent.
However, they had feathers stuck in their mouths and their noses! They
couldn't get the feathers out of their mouths at all! It was hilarious,
like they were trying to get peanut butter out of their mouths...

Then, as you can see, they can be sleeping beauties.

Back to nature

Today I got off work at 3 and it was so nice to actually do some thing on a Sunday in the daylight. I usually get off at 9:30 on Sundays, but for the next few weeks I have this new schedule. We decided to go hiking/walking at Black Creek. We had a fun time and even took Duke with us. The weather was sunny with temps in the 70's. We took a few pics along the trip and after the walk we worked up an appetite for some Dick's wings.mmmmm. click title for more pics.
Outlet Shopping in the TL

We are so happy to finally have the car back. Friday we were told to pick the car up at the shop by 5:30, but around that time in FL, traveling anyplace close to or in the vicinity of downtown is like driving in SD or LA, traffic. We were on the Matthews Bridge and it was 5:56 we were nowhere close to Tom Bush. When we called in they said the shop closes at 6 and by this time it was 6. We got to the shop and Rich pointed it out to me, I told him to go and we can try. We got lucky because the they were just about to move our car back into the shop to lock it up and Rich was able to signal the guy down and the lady that takes the payments was still in the shop. We dropped off the rental and took off in the TL. eheheh. We decided to go out to dinner that night and celebrate, so we went to Carabbas down the street and then back home to relax. Yesterday we decided to head to St. Augustine and go shopping. We live about 20 miles from the Belz Outlet store and there are two buildings, one side has 95 stores, all out doors and the other side is all indoors, like a giant mall outlet. I had fun in BCBG and we found Miannas favorite store Limited Too ;o) I'll bring her back on Mar 28th to use her 2bucks. I also went shopping in Guess,Aeropostal and Coach!!!! I got yet another Coach wristlet.Rich found some pants in Nautica After shopping we drove to downtown St. Augustine and drove around just to listen to the DVD quality CD's we bought and enjoy the sun as we drove around with the sunroof open and Alicia keys singing in surround sound quality DVD. The TL has the best sound system on the market. The DVD quality CD's are very expensive at 18 bucks per CD, so we will only buy what we know is good and start a small collection for the car. We got to see Alicia keys in concert and she is one of our favorites so we had to get that CD. Rich also got Bob Marley but the format was all wrong for the car and so it wouldn't play. I think I accidentally tossed the receipt and so we are stuck with the CD. Maybe I can play it on the PC :0). I took a few pictures and since it's Bike week here in FL, there are many Harley Davidson’s on the road. After we left the beach area we drove toward home and stopped to eat crab at our favorite spot, Outback Crab Shack. I drove home and it was just so nice to relax in my heated seats and comfy temps all the way home. The blue tooth phone I got rich works, but it's really funky on how well it works. Overall we had a good day and today we plan on going hiking.

Need for Speed, G!
Last year I purchased this Sony Vaio notebook and didn't realize it was only running on 802.11b.............dumb but after I got my new G roughter last month, I realized it. Today I just upgraded to a G adapter and I'm such a nerd LOL I get a big kick out of messing with the computers in the house. My network is tighter than Fort knox. LOL , no, i'm just happy to be wirless and this 54 Mbps is NICE. I just got Richie a new cell phone today, and he has been wanting an update. I'm glad I waited just in time to get him a bluetooth enabled phone. The TL has bluetooth so he can use his phone wirless in the car. I might get him an earpiece later, so he can have that FBI look ehhehehe, or is it the Men In Black look. I like that look. Speaking of look, I need to go put my window covering in the nook and make space for the table.I believe Rich will go pick it up today. I'm so excited. This is the phone I got Richie. Talk to ya latter G. LOL

I don't want to do a thing. Anyways... let me take my grumpy butt to the garage and start on it. UGH>>>> hate it. I still have to put of curtains on the remaining 8 windows. ehehhe. I swear.... Our New Acura TL

Anthracite Metallic for the exterior color
Camel leather for the interior
Boy do I have a story to tell. You wouldn’t believe it unless you were there, but it's a true story. It all started yesterday after Rich got off of work. We have been car shopping for months now and have test drove and seen so many different types of cars and SUV's. We decided to go to Atlantic Blvd yesterday and check out the Infinity FX35 I think it's called, but quickly changed our mind when we seen the Acura dealer not far down the street. Last week Rich took me to the Acura dealer here in Orange Park and I just fell in love with the TL. We were able to get a really good deal and Rich found the color he wanted on both the outside and inside. Yes we did it, we bough our new car. The TL is just so awesome, it has too many features to mention but if you go to the Acura website and click on the TL you will be able to watch a video on all the cool features it has. So last night on the way home Rich drove until we got to Mc Donald’s in Orange Park and I took over. We were heading to Wal-Mart when I was stopped at the red light behind Rich in the TL and this dang Taxi Cab ran in to the back of me. YUP .. I just couldn't believe how fast it had happen and that this guy had just hit our new car and we had only been driving it for less than an hour. The damage was not too bad and we should have it all squared away this week. We took the car back to the dealers today and they detailed it and cleaned it and also showed me how to work all the cool features.... as if I could remember..... NOT, but I have the quick guidebook to reference until I'm an expert at it. ehheheheh. Anyways the accident was not my fault and the taxi cabs insurance will pay for it all. The cops were called out and took the report and sighted the driver for following too closely. Anyways we are so happy we got our first dream car. Check out this site. Click on the interactive showroom I'll post more pics later on.

Formal Living

I did it! I put up the curtain rod and the curtains in the formal living room and it looks great. I had a little help with my new toy from Black and Decker. This thing has a layzer light and stud finder and it came in handy for making things straight. I used 4 tap top panels by Waverly and also the rod is by Waverly as well. I'm not sure if don't plan on keeping the stools there, I just wanted them in the pictures.

Front Page of the FL Times Union.
The city still has three crucial days in the spotlight -- including Monday's expected mad rush on the airport -- but National Football League Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said in a Friday news conference that he thought Jacksonville would host another Super Bowl.
"My feeling is it will be back here at some point," Tagliabue said.
If it does come back, local officials may want to borrow from San Diego's playbook and really push the event to local residents. San Diego has three Super Bowls under its belt and saw a similar trend of locals bailing out during its first two games in 1988 and 1998 -- especially the first one.

Freak Dancing
Dances Cancelled in Lemoore
High schoolers 'freak' themselves out of a prom
January 11, 2005
LEMOORE, Calif. -- Fed up with students' racy moves, a principal has taken the unusual step of canceling the rest of this year's school dances.
Principal Jim Bennett of Lemoore Union High School said he warned students at a winter formal dance last month to either quit dirty dancing or face the possibility of not dancing at all.
But he said the students continued ''freak dancing,'' a form of sexually suggestive dancing.
The ban on dances includes the school's Sadie Hawkins dance in February and the junior and senior proms in the spring, but Bennett said they could be rescheduled if students modify their behavior.
Organizers of the Sadie Hawkins dance, a fund-raiser for the school's FFA Organization, formerly Future Farmers of America, are working with Bennett to come up with regulations, which could allow that dance to go on.
One idea is to let students sign a form stating that raunchy dancing will get them kicked out. Students hope regulations could lead to the reinstatement of dances.
''Some students save up all year to buy a dress or rent a tuxedo and buy flowers for the prom,'' said student body president Zohra Lakhani. ''To crush everyone's dreams, it's not fair.'' AP

Bye Bye X-Mas Tree
More on Color
Red is the highest arc and outer edge of the rainbow, as well as the longest wavelength of color.
Let's see how red, orange and yellow fit into the scheme of things.
RED
Red feels exciting. It is associated with power, passion, dominance, activity and heat. It represents youthfulness, impulse and intensity. Red is also a grounding color and can make you feel secure. It is associated with courtship and love. You've no doubt heard of "seeing the world through rose-colored glasses," meaning that everything seems fine when viewed through these magic lenses.
One medical study has gone so far as to suggest that chickens seeing red during the day are happier. And there's even a company that markets red contact lenses for chickens! Supposedly, these rose-colored glasses make them produce more eggs.
Then there's the evil twin of red, which can bring out rage, confrontation, fierceness, aggressiveness and bloody messes. But that bloodiness isn't always bad, because red can be connected to life and living, which we automatically associate with life-blood. In Christianity, for example, red stands for the blood of Christ. Red has been known to raise blood pressure. In casinos, red is widely used so that people will stay and continue to gamble, not realizing that time is flying by.
And red supposedly stimulates appetites so it is often used in restaurants.
It is also a color that demands attention. You see it in warning lights, fire engines and hydrants. Red is the highest arc and outer edge of the rainbow and the longest wavelength of color.
Red Decor : Red will wake up a room. It should be used as an accent in accessories, part of a pattern in upholstery or one impressive chair or bench. Red is a good color to have in a nursery because it stimulates and aids the development of neural connections in an infant's brain.
ORANGE
Feels citrus-y. You'd think orange would be comfortable in its own skin, but it's not. Actually orange has an identity crisis. It is always in second place right after red. Orange is the natural color of fire but red is the name used to symbolize it. Orange represents excitement and can be stimulating. It can make you feel like hurrying and that is why it's usually a color used in fast-food places and quick-mart-type stores. They want you in and out quickly, so the smart store designers use orange with the idea that it will facilitate that.
Orange Decor: Orange is good as an accent color coupled with brown or yellow. For use in a home, rust is the better shade as it is easier on the eye.
YELLOW
Yellow feels happy. But too much of a good thing can be bad. It's the most fatiguing color out there, especially pure, bright lemon yellow.
A yellow kitchen might look bright and cheerful, but be assured that there will be more arguing between cooks in this atmosphere. I imagine, too, that movie stars throw more tantrums in yellow dressing rooms.
Yellow should be treated like sunlight. You want it around for the happiness it produces but you don't want it to be overpowering. Soft yellow is pleasing. Bold yellow should be used as an accent. Other attributes include philosophical detachment, anticipation, hope and communication. It expresses activity and in some religions is associated with the deity.
Yellow is said to be a color that is admired by intellectuals, perhaps because is stimulates the memory. It is associated with enlightenment, both mental and spiritual.
A touch of yellow in every room might help in remembering where you left your keys, eyeglasses or the neighbor's phone number.
Yellow Decor: Yellow does well watered down greatly with white for walls. If a room receives little or no sunlight, the soft yellow walls help make the room bright. Yellow sings arias as a splash of accent in pillows, vases and other accessories. Yes, one grand chair or sofa upholstered in yellow and piped in blue can be smashing. Yellow also would be a good color for a workout room, particularly if aerobics were involved. It's also a good color for a game room, study or office because it helps to keep you attentive. A yellow bathroom will take the chill out of the air.
