Fred, Bob, Bill or Charles

When we first moved here, we met a neighbor outside that told us we have lots of frog friends that live around here.
Well last night we had a green one above our door. We name the frogs around here.So we shall call this one Greenie.
We had a pretty full moon last night also.

Sweet Potato Pie

Rich made his first sweet potato pie from scratch. I can't wait to taste it.

Realtor

Today had been a real head pain for me. Literally I have had a headache all day long. I worked on getting my sale page up for some items on eBay. We just need to get rid of some old clothes and I just love having an electronic garage sale. So we spent the day running around some neighborhoods looking at homes and also got a realtor today. So I guess we will have more help in finding a home. Our realtor goes by the name Ginny, short for (Virginia), I guess we can't forget her name now...can we. LOL. I really wanted to build, but if we can find something that is not to old and looks good, we will take it. Oya, I also had some nice phone calls with old and new friends. It's seems as if people have been thinking of me lately. I just recently talked to Ingrid, Glory, Myke, Grandma, Mom, Bing and an old friend from WA, Tiara. Tiara lives here in Jax's and so we have lots of catching up to do. I'm on the phone again..... with Margaret...gotta run.

I found this picture of mom and me in Japan at the airport.
My mom speaks fluent Japanese and asked these ladies
in kimonos to take a picture with us.I'm so dark you can
hardly see me. LOL. I was 11 years old.

Sunset

We went on our 4-mile walk around the neighborhood and I took a few picture of the sky. I really miss the sunsets in Cali. We have some beautiful sunrises here in the east, but it's just not the same as seeing the sunset in the west. I took some pictures of Mianna's future high school, that's if we stay here at Fleming Island. Anyways, we had a nice walk to help burn off the fried shrimp and french-fries I had for dinner. We ate out at one of our favorite spots up the street in Green Cove. We also drove around a few nice neighborhoods, just to look at houses. We are still house shopping, just taking our time till we find what we like. I actually fell in love with a few models down the street from here. I just can't wait to be in our own home.

W Hotel

I was just reading my email and found this in my newsletter from The W Hotel.
Do you have four legs? A waggy tail? Slurpy tongue? Do you hyperventilate excessively when the mailman comes? The W house rules say, "Woof Meow, Pets Are Welcome!"

This is really great for us, becaue we love to travel with our big boy Duke.

Birthday Cards

My birthday is in less than a week and I've already gotten two birthday cards. This is a big Thanks to
Ingrid and Kim. I love you guys both like family

Midnight Snack

After that long walk we deserve a little treat, so Mianna and I made funnel cake and sprinkled it with powdered sugar. This really takes us back to our New Orleans trips.MMM good.Beignets are the best at Cafe Du Monde.

After dinner walk

Our apartments are surrounded by miles of paths, just perfect for long walks after dinner. We decided to try and do this every other day. Tonight we took duke and he just had a blast running free on the path. While on our walk we came across this weird looking bug. It might be some type of moth but I’m not real sure. This is also the same path we use to bike and rollerblade to Walmart.

Beef and broccoli

We had homemade beef and broccoli for dinner and it was mmmmmm good. Email me if you need the recipe.

5th Avenue

Today we hit the mall, and had so much fun!!!! LOL. Our governor Jeb Bush passed this tax-free shopping and it was just awesome out there. I wish everyday could be like this. It was like having the NEX, except it was the entire mall. Mianna picked up some really cute skorts and shorts in her favorite store (Limited Too) and I held my self back from all my wants, but I did manage to buy a good pair of slacks for interviews. I also nabbed a cute top. This has got to be the best mall in Jacksonville. I know I'll shop there instead of going to the mall that is down the street (Orange park mall). Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall is so huge and the stores it has reminds me of fashion valley in SD.Here is a link to the mall. You can shop online too.

We are really enjoying our shopping experiences here in FL. Super Target is another one of our favorite spots to shop. While in Target it's a must to pick up a Mocha Frappuccino from Starbucks, It's so cool to have one inside Target.
This is my favorite tool for shopping online and you better bookmark it.

Tax Free Week

Just in time for back to school...Florida Enacts Tax Holiday. Governor Jeb Bush passed a tax holiday running from July 24, 2004 through August 1, 2004. The tax holiday allows for a temporary exemption of tax on all purchases of clothing and related items costing $50 or less, books with a sales price of $50 or less, and school supplies costing $10 or less

Looks like it's a perfect time to go shopping for Mianna. The NEX here is a bit bare in her department.
Thanks Jeb.... ehhehehehe. YES!!! Let hit the malls Mianna!

Bright Yellow????

No I haven’t decided to paint the Altima bright yellow, but I do have a funny story to tell. Today we were just sitting around and getting ready to head out when Duke started to make some weird noises. All of a sudden Mianna looks at him and says "mom Duke is going to through up". O my god he was in the doorway to my room and I was trying to grab news paper to put it down as he walked from my room to the back of the couch and then Mianna dragged him out to the front door. Poor Duke, he is just like a kid, he must have got into some thing yellow, but I’m still not sure what he could have eaten. But if you can picture this yellow gook that was so sticky like glue, and I mean it was as bright as a yellow crayon. Just what was this mysterious regurgitation? Duke seems fine now, but I had the joy of cleaning up the long trail of yellow gunk. I think we need a carpet cleaner along with a new vacuum cleaner, since ours is broke. :o(

Chuck Taylors a.k.a. Converse

Mianna and I went shopping last week for a pair of Chuck Taylor’s a.k.a. Converse. After a few stores we finally find a pair for her. When we got home I had to show her my Chuck Tailors that I use to wear over 9 years ago. Man it's so crazy to see styles come back in style. I remember when I was her age and my aunty would tell me, I had a pair just like that when I was little. Now here I am telling my daughter that same quote. It just goes to show that styles will always repeat themselves.

With my birthday on the way, I'm sure starting to feel the age when it comes to remembering simple things that I use to have that my daughter thinks are NEW. hehehehe. LOL

Scorpion

Today I have reached my last straw on controlling my heebee jeebies. I was sitting on the Mac computer when I seen a centipede crawling across the carpet. I picked up a slipper and killed it. I had to get on the notebook to work on some codes for my website, so I sat down on the couch and a few minutes later some thing fell out that sky and on to my leg. My reaction was to flick it off my leg and it went flying onto the coffee table. O my god it's a scorpion, I ran to get the dustpan to kill it and got scared, so Mianna killed it for me. I have had it. Now I’m so freaked out I don't think I'll ever be the same. This experience really brings my heebee jeebies to new heights. I want out of here, no more bugs for me.

Update on Rich

Rich is slowly healing but in much better shape now. He has been checking into AIMD and so far hasn't started the real work yet. Once his is all checked in, then he will be working more. I'm just glad he was able to come home early today and rest.

Flickr

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

Duke's first grooming

We took Duke in for his first professional grooming. The staff at the shop said he was a good boy. We are so proud of our old man. Duke is 12 years old now, so that makes him about 84 in dog years.

ER

Last night I was up all night with Rich. I was trying to convince him to go to the ER and even had to threaten to call his mom if he didn't want to go. Well his parents did call around 7pm our time and Rich told them all about his pains. What do you know, he decided he wanted to go to the ER, so we got dressed and took him in. We knew that we would be there for a long time. This must have been a record setting time (shortest) we have ever spent in the ER; we were there for about 4 hours only. The doctor ran all kinds of blood work, urine sample, chest x-rays and EKG. It turned out that every thing looked good. But just from the look of rich laying in the hospital bed with oxygen tubes in his nose and EKG pads on his chest, with an IV for morphine, he sure didn't look good. He also said he could still feel the pain even with the morphine in his system. Mianna and I took a break to get dinner at the Mc Donald’s on base and then went to the house to let Duke out to PP, he was so happy to see us home. When we drove back to the hospital Rich called to say he was released and that he would tell me the results when I got to him. He doesn't like me to talk on the cell when I'm driving. Well, it turns out that he has liquid in his lungs and they just gave him some vicodin and ibuprophen and told him to try and take deep breaths. He will return for a follow up in one week. It's not nice seeing him in pain. I had to help him put his socks on and pull his shorts up; any movement is really hard for him. He can hardly sit or get up from a sitting or laying position. But I'll tell you he has one part of his body that is still working. ehhehehe. Can you guess what part? I swear, men can be in pain, but that one part will still always be ready for service. LOL.

We just got back from a long drive out to Middleburg. There was a picnic for all the family members of AIMD, it was so windy and by this huge lake. Lots of people were swimming and boating in the lake. We had some typical American bbq. Only got one picture from the car, since it was just too windy out and I didn't want to look like a tourist, always pulling out my camera to take pictures. But ever since we got the digital I can't seem to stop taking pictures. Mianna actually to the picture for me, from the car. Ill post it so maybe you can see the light blue color of the lake. Today looks like it might actually be a pretty day. Rich is having chest pains, so I doubt we do much today. But I sure hope we get out the house tonight or this weekend. I'm real anxious to watch IRobot. I'll be back with a review on the movie :o) LOL.
