Hilliard Children Recovering from Poisonous Snake Bites

Two children from Hilliard County are recovering after receiving poisonous snake bites.

The children, 2 and 4-years old, were playing in their backyard when they were bitten.

A doctor from Shands Jacksonville believes the recent wet weather and debris leftover from the hurricanes, may have something to do with the movement of many snakes.

There are a few things you should keep in mind when a snake bite occurs. First, head to a medical facility immediately. Second, do not tie off or apply a tourniquet. Third, do not attempt to suck out the venom. Finally, wear boots and/or long pants in snake prone areas.
